چکیده

Inarguably, in several developing and in-transition countries, human are threatened by the occurrence of rabies domestic dogs it is posing a major concern. However, infection livestock could definitely have economic consequences. This study aimed to determine among Kelantan use Direct Fluorescent Antibody Test (DFAT) presence dogs. The detected cases were 12.5% (1 out 8 samples). finding might be inconclusive due small sample size. It was generally difficult obtain satisfactory large number representing high positive control used this research work made up inactivated vaccine (Rabisin®) whose antigenic determinant viral glycoprotein. sufficient although live virus for inoculation brain tissue smear would better option control. from florescence microscopy examination reveals good brilliant green fluoresce grade (+4) results samples show all negative at conjugate dilution 1:100.

Factors influencing the antibody response of dogs vaccinated against rabies.

Since 2000, there has been a legal requirement in the UK that dogs and cats should have an effective rabies vaccination with demonstrable sero-conversion if their owners wish to avoid quarantine on re-entry to the UK. In 2002, 10,483 rabies titres were determined on dogs at the VLA. Statistical analyses assessed the efficacy of each vaccine within different dog breeds. Animal size, age, breed, ...

Evaluation of Two Rapid Diagnostic Tests for Rabies Diagnosis under Field and Laboratory Conditions in Nigeria

The study was carried out to evaluate two rapid diagnostic rabies diagnostic tests in South Eastern Nigeria. One hundred samples each of saliva and brains were collected before and after slaughter from apparently healthy dogs brought for slaughter. The saliva was subjected to rapid immune chromatographic test while the brain tissues were subjected Direct Fluorescent Antibody Test (DFAT) and dir...

Safe and easy monitoring of anti-rabies antibody in dogs using his-tagged recombinant N-protein.

The virus neutralization (VN) test is a reliable indicator of adequate vaccination in animals. However, the VN test is tedious and complicated to perform. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), though rapid and simple compared to the VN test, is complicated and hazardous during preparation of the viral antigen. In an effort to overcome the disadvantage of ELISA, the recombinant His-tagged n...

Comparative assessment of seller's staining test (SST) and direct fluorescent antibody test for rapid and accurate laboratory diagnosis of rabies.

BACKGROUND Rabies causes 55, 000 annual human deaths globally and about 10,000 people are exposed annually in Nigeria. Diagnosis of animal rabies in most African countries has been by direct microscopic examination. In Nigeria, the Seller's stain test (SST) was employed until 2009. Before then, both SST and dFAT were used concurrently until the dFAT became the only standard method. OBJECTIVE ...
